Review: Melting Ice 5

Melting Ice 5 Melting Ice 5 by D.J. Manly
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This series is like eating a potato chip; there is no stopping at just one. I'm addicted. In this one, D.J. Manly creatively uses these shack in the woods. Yes, it is supposed to be a cabin but from its descriptions, it is a shack. Maybe the love shack...

The story starts of with Sin trying once again to have a crucial conversation with his best friend, Doug. Doug doesn't understand that being lovers is not in the stars for him. Thinking that this is going to be another stalker like theme, it changes course almost immediately to feature Weaver. Weaver is a young man who is trying to turn his life around. I'm appalled at how his family treated him as a minor. I realize this is a very realistic depiction of what happens but it still depresses me and wonder how people are allowed to have children.

Sin and Weaver start out as adversaries and quickly get tangled up between the sheets as well as a criminal investigation. Is this exactly plausible how it plays out? Probably not. The romance between the two is instalove and I liked it. Their chemistry is good and they are good for each other. My own complaint is the hanging thread of Doug being brushed aside. It seems as if he could come back to haunt this newly formed couple. That would be a shame. This story moved fast and is an easy read. Recommended to m/m romance readers who enjoy second chance themes.
